SOUTHERN ALBERTA FAMILY GATHERING, July 14, 2026

In July 14, twenty women gathered at Monique’s home in Calgary for an Aglow family reunion. Danyele and Leslie from the National Apostolic Team came from Edmonton to meet with faithful women from Lethbridge, Nanton/High River, Cochrane, Didsbury and Calgary. We worked together in the kitchen, sat down to a feast at an extended kitchen table, and got right into catching up with one another.

Danyele shared her journey as Aglow Canada’s National President over the past 20 years, describing how God dismantled human-made systems that confined His Spirit, released prophetic words of guidance and encouragement, and confirmed His intention to take Aglow “back to the beginning for a new beginning”. Our beginning was four women seated around a kitchen table seeking the Holy Spirit together. We are beginning again with the original DNA of Aglow!

This shift is not primarily about returning to what was before or about organization. It is about embracing the new season God is bringing to Aglow in Canada and walking together in the purposes of God for our nation. In the Kingdom of God, a seed must go into the ground before it can bring life. Many of us have walked together through different seasons, and some things have come to an end. We believe the Lord is now saying that the seed has been planted, and a new expression is beginning to grow. We are moving from a meeting-based structure to a family relationship-based structure. In an organization, structure is built around rules, schedules and roles. In the kingdom of God, we are Presence-centered family, putting God’s heart and relationships above structure, programs or titles. Rather, the structure is built around connection, belonging, Presence and a shared lifestyle under God.

So, we shared our longings and listened to each other’s hearts. We learned from each other. A sister from the Middle East explained her struggles to fit into Western Christian culture. In her culture, people belong first, then they believe, then they behave. She said that in Western Christian culture, people believe first, then they behave, then they belong. We can see that God is changing that order in Canada by building a spiritual family. We heard about how, in Newfoundland, a strategy of family, love, and connection without judgment is welcoming people struggling with addiction, prostitution, and other forms of marginalization into churches. That sense of connection and belonging is drawing them into faith and freedom as they come to know Christ and become part of God’s family.

A very special blessing was the presence among us of three generations of one family: a 95-year-old mother, her daughter, and her 22-year-old great-granddaughter who has a passion for her generation to know the truth and be set free. When the Holy Spirit moved, we prayed for each other and experienced deep intercession (travail), deliverance, and healing.

Many of us have been crying out for the oneness, the belonging, the freedom, and the love within God’s family—and together we experienced all these at this family gathering. We drank from the Well and were refreshed.

SOME REFLECTIONS FROM OUR SISTERS IN SOUTHERN ALBERTA

•  I saw family—no titles, no positions. I saw by example what serving one another means. It was a delight to experience the simplicity of sisterhood.
•  In the Spirit, I saw Him clapping His hands and rejoicing in our midst. He was very happy with the joining of our hearts and lives together.
•  God speaks prophetically when Aglow sisters get together, to the group and into our hearts personally. The flow of love is tangible.
•  Women want and need to be heard. We have something to say that’s on our hearts. I need to make time and listen!
•  Thank you Danyele for hanging in there and obeying God to continue leading this ministry, and for sharing your heart, and thanks to others who shared as well in this safe place.
•  Years have passed, but our love of serving the Lord through Aglow has not faded. I believe we were all refired with the expectation of what the Lord has planned for our future. We don’t know how He is going to bring us back to our roots, but we know He will guide each of us as we wait for His direction. As we let the Lord enlarge our hearts, removing all the old religious mindsets and barriers, we will see more clearly.
•  I felt like I had arrived at a reunion of the extended family. There was an example of “mothers” ministering to the next generation with compassion and understanding of what young adults are facing today. It was encouraging to see three generations in one family whose hearts are following the Lord, like in 2 Timothy 1:5.
•  In the early days of Aglow, there was an emphasis on being led by the Spirit, not strictly tied to an agenda but free to move as God directed. The meeting with Danyele seemed to be an example of going “back to the beginning”.
•  What took place at the meeting was so far reaching that it will take time to grasp all its significance. The freedom for Holy Spirit to move was so welcome. It was a time of fellowship, a joyful time, a time of renewed friendships, a time of prayer and healing, a time of deliverance. A time of receiving and a time of giving. A much-needed time of family gathering. It was a corporate time; it was a one-on-one time. It was a necessary time—a timely moment, a Divine appointment. It was a time of release and propelling to move forward in God’s plans. It was a now time.
