LET’S MOVE MOUNTAINS
A tragedy is unfolding in Iran (biblical Persia and Elam). A large-scale revolt by citizens against their extreme Islamic government is being brutally crushed with tens of thousands of people killed. Because Iran’s government promotes and finances the intended destruction of Israel, including through Hezbollah (Lebanon), Hamas (Gaza), and the Houthis (Yemen), the entire Middle East is shaking. In case we’re thinking this conflict is far removed from us, there are ways in which the Ayatollahs’ reach also extends into Canada. Iran anchors the extreme Eastern end of the “Highway of Hope” described in Isaiah 19:23-25. And despite intense persecution, Iran has the fastest growing (underground) church in the world!
We know that God “changes times and seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings” (Daniel 2:21a) and believe God is shaking kingdoms “in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain” (Hebrews 12:27b). He also “gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding” (Daniel 2:21b), so let’s seek to align with His will for the Highway of Hope, for our nation, and for the Muslim world.
Starting Friday January 30, Mandate 2 of Aglow International Canada is hosting a Zoom call to pray for Iran, for the Isaiah 19 Highway, and (starting February 20) for Muslims during the Ramadan fast. Join us for an hour of prayer over 7 consecutive Fridays until March 13.
