The Pleasure of His Company
Don’t you love when someone invites you to join them doing something you wouldn’t necessarily do by yourself? My suitcase is always close by, and I am ready to travel when asked by a family member or close friend, or to participate in an Aglow family outreach mission.
We are currently entering God’s Feast Days, also known as the High Holy Days of Israel. Rosh Hashanah (the new year) will be celebrated from sunset on Friday, September 11 to sunset on Sunday, September 13. Yom Kippur, the holiest day on the Hebrew calendar, will be celebrated from sunset on September 20 to sunset on September 21. In between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are solemn days of introspection and repentance. “Shanah Tova U Metukah!” May you have a happy and sweet new year!
Psalm 16:11 reads, “You will show me the path of life; In Your Presence is fulness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Abiding in His Presence will is a safe place for us no matter what is happening in the world around us. His Presence will protect us, sustain us and supply us with all the wisdom, understanding and revelation knowledge we will need in the days ahead.
Moses had a very close, intimate relationship with the Lord. In Exodus 33:14-18 God tells him, “My Presence will go with you and I will give you rest”. Moses replies, “If Your Presence does not go with us do not bring us up from here“. He asks the Lord, “Please show me Your Glory”. God answers him, “I will make all My Goodness pass before you and I will proclaim the Name of the Lord before you”. Commentary on Exodus 33:15-17 reads, “Rely fully on God to enable you to obey His Word, knowing that His Spirit and His Presence set you apart”.
In this new season Aglow has entered, what is God setting us apart for? To sit and be blessed? Or is He asking us to “abide in His Presence” as we take all we have learned over the years in Aglow to the world: the foundations of Prayer and Evangelism; male/female reconciliation; loving Muslim people and unravelling the thread of the garment of Islam; loving, praying for and supporting Israel and the Jewish people; living out the truth of the messages of GameChangers and LifeChangers.
The Lord loves His family deeply and invites us to experience the Pleasure of His Company as we abide in His Presence!
“Come close to God and God will come close to you.” James 4:8
“He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you with His Love; He will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 4:17(b)
“I will never leave you or forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5(b)
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8
Awaiting His soon return with much joy and anticipation as we enter this new season in Aglow International Canada,
Charlotte
