Do you ever have situations in your life where you just wish you could have a fresh start? Well, I believe God is granting Aglow International Canada a fresh start this year.
I had this sense when I read our National President’s latest letter, “Back to the Beginning for a New Beginning”. Danyele’s letter reminded us of the apostolic journey we have been on since 1968. I wept as I read the letter and was once again reminded of God’s Goodness and Faithfulness to the movement of Aglow in Canada from 1968 to 2026. Psalm 1:3 promises that “He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.” I believe that message is for Canada.
Danyele provided a picture of an acorn becoming an oak tree. When I looked at the acorn, I asked the Lord, “Exactly what is in that seed?” He reminded me of the foundation of Aglow in Canada. The seed was Prayer and Evangelism. That has never changed. I remember attending my first Aglow meetings back in 1981 where I heard heavenly worship, prophetic words of encouragement and comfort, testimonies and prayer, and I received the infilling of the Holy Spirit.
Our DNA is rooted in prayer and evangelism, and our destiny is to become a family. When I think of family, I believe that God shows Himself strong in working through the generations. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are an example of how God manifested Himself through His promises and covenants with each of them. God makes Himself known through you and me. There are those who, even though they will not read the Bible or go to a church, will be touched, changed and saved through hearing your testimony and experiencing your love for them.
I believe that God has taken us back to the beginning for a fresh start, not to forget the early years, but to build on what He has established from the beginning, and by leading and equipping us through GameChangers and LifeChangers. As I see it, these lessons from Graham Cooke have put the cherry on top of the sundae. We have been on a journey of healing by learning our identity (how heaven sees us), how to walk in the fruit of the Spirit, how to have another thought when we know we have missed the mark, and how to deal with everyday life situations that sometimes feel overwhelming and impossible. God is the God of “the possible”.
Be blessed as we walk out God’s plan for Aglow International Canada together. One in the Spirit, one in Love and each one with a piece of the puzzle for what the Aglow “family” will look like. God’s commission to us is “to love God and to love others as ourselves”. Let’s continue to Love People into the Kingdom. We are family and “they will know us by our Love”.
Charlotte Mandolesi attended her first Aglow meeting in 1981. Since then, she has served the Lord in Aglow Canada in many unofficial and official capacities. Currently, she chairs our Board of Directors and is a member of the National Apostolic Team.
