Our Prophetic Mandates
Mandate: an authoritative command, an authorization to act given to a representative (Merriam-Webster)
Our three mandates are prophetic, apostolic and end-time ministry directions God has given to Aglow. They are biblical, consistent with our vision and mission, and supported through prayer and evangelism.
God revealed these mandates to Aglow in ten-year intervals:
- (1981) To promote reconciliation between male and female in the Body of Christ as God designed from Genesis 1-2
- (1991) To answer God’s call to reveal His glory to Muslim people
- (2001) To stand in loving support for Israel and the Jewish people, while bringing awareness to the Body of Christ concerning God’s plans and purposes for Israel, His first nation among all the nations of the world
Why do we care…
… about male/female reconciliation?
In the beginning, God showed what dominion would look like: male and female together! Aglow works to restore women to take their rightful place in reconciled relationship and to communicate God’s original purpose: that He would have a family, a people to share His life, nature, Spirit, vision and purpose, and through whom He would express His life, power and glory in the earth. (Acts 3:21)
…about Muslims?
About 2 billion people on planet earth are Muslim. They do not know the God who is Love or that His Son Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Aglow is called to reveal the differences between Islam and Christianity, love Muslims in practical ways, and encourage the body of Christ to love and pray for their Muslim neighbors – in other words, to reveal to them the glory of God in the face of Jesus. (2 Corinthians 4:6)
…about Israel?
God is faithful to us. This we can believe for ourselves because He is faithful to the people of Israel. Scripture records His oft-stated promises to love the Jews, bring them back to the land He assigned as their inheritance, and cause them to thrive and bless the nations. (Genesis 12:1-3, e.g., Isaiah 54) We build relationships with and learn from Messianic believers. We make pilgrimage to Israel to learn and to bless. We reject antisemitism in our own environments, loving and standing with our Jewish neighbors.
