Adjust Our Perception
I believe the Lord wants to adjust our perception in this new season to His reality instead of the reality that we may hear, feel or think that is happening around us. Repeatedly throughout Scripture, we find that God’s truths contradict human reasoning. One of the things we need to understand is that we live in a world made by an invisible Being and this world is thick with invisible things. They are all “around us,” in a sense, but not immediately obvious to many, since the visible realm is so much more imposing. Every day we live in two realities, the seen and the unseen, the culture of heaven and the culture of this world. The reality we choose as a lifestyle, influences our whole approach to life and our faith.
Unseen things are the true, eternal reality. 2 Cor. 4: 18 says, “While we look not at the things, which are seen, but at the things, which are not seen: for the things, which are, seen are temporal; but the things, which are not seen, are eternal. Paul made it clear that there is an unseen architecture to the universe, something behind the noticeable, which we must focus our attention on and seek to understand. We are commanded to look at the things, which are not seen? The Greek word for “look at” is “skopeo”, it means to take aim, to take heed, to consider, to observe, to contemplate, to mark and to fix one’s eyes upon, and to exert effort in continually acquiring understanding.
A Vision Of Ultimate Reality
The Bible is filled with examples of people who were given a glimpse into the spiritual realm. One of my favourite stories about the reality of the invisible realm is found in 2 Kings 6:15-17. The prophet Elisha’s servant saw something in the visible realm that overwhelmed him. He saw the Syrian army encircling their city with horses and chariots to capture Elisha. He said, “Oh no, my Lord! What shall we do?” However, Elisha was not shaken or moved by what was happening in the natural realm. He had eyes to see and saw a deeper reality in the unseen realm and he said, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
Elisha saw something his servant did not see: the enemies of God surrounding the city were themselves surrounded by a massive invisible force of angels ordered behind the scenes for Elisha’s protection. So Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” And the Lord opened the servant’s eyes and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
Bringing More Of Heaven To Your Life
Heaven’s power is at hand to defeat the powers of darkness. Paul writes in Colossians 3:1-3, “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things, which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above not the things of the earth, for you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” This is quite a paradigm shift, isn’t it? This is literally a call to fix our heart and mind on a life that is not of this world. To understand that we have been lifted up in Christ is the ultimate revelation of the endless access of the kingdom of heaven that is available to us.
So, our perception in life is everything. Let’s not be blinded or discouraged by our natural circumstances. Heaven is with us; there is a spiritual realm all around and it is real. We are His children, and His Spirit is alive within us. Now is the time to allow faith to rise up within us, enabling us to advance God’s Kingdom and overthrow the power of the enemy. When our spiritual eyes are opened, we recognize that we’re not alone. God is with us in this life on earth and He has a massive spiritual armory at our disposal.
May the Lord bless you with the reality of heaven! If you are dealing with difficult situations in your life today, a glimpse into Heaven may be just what you need. No matter what you may see with your natural eyes, God is still sitting on His throne!
God is creating a fresh testimony of who He is.
- When was the last time you encountered His reality vs. natural circumstances you were facing?
- What impact did it have on your life?
Enjoy the adventures!
